The zoo in phoenix is awesome but it was hot and very big! According to the information we saw on internet, it is one of the five best zoos for children and one of the biggest too. It seemed like a good idea to take some time to have a family day and so Benji could see the animals because he loves them so much, but it looks like he likes the toy ones more than the real ones.
We woke up early because during the summer the zoo is only open until 2 pm because it is so hot. The estimated time to see everything at the zoo is about 3 hours, so we wanted to get there pretty early to see everything. We had a quick breakfast and then we took off for the zoo. Benji slept most of the way there, and we had to park at a stadium kind of far from the zoo because the zoo parking was full. We walked a little ways and when we got to the park there were so many people there! Everything looked so cool and there were so many things. There were snowcones, stingray feeding stations, and a lot of children running around in swimming suits. They had fountains and blow up houses with water to help keep everyone cool because it was so hot!
We began our tour of the zoo looking at the tall giraffes. Benji didn't seem to interested though - he was more interested in seeing the people, the hats, and all of the people walking around. We remembered one time when we visited a zoo in Mexico City, it wasn't very good - maybe because it was free, but in this one there were a few animals that we had to skip, because they were being lazy and sleeping or because they were kind of far and we would have to go up a big hill to get there, so I guess we were lazy too :). We kept walking hoping to see the savage and dangerous lions and tigers, but it wasn't to be .. they were the most lazy animals in the whole zoo! But the fun part was when we went to the mandrill area and we saw them from far away, but then we went to the window where we could see them and were close and it was fun to see them so close. I put Benji up against the window to see them, but he started to cry because they scared him, so we decided to keep him at a little more of a distance from the animals.
Our trip to the zoo was very long and tiring, but it was very fun also. And we could learn so much with Benji and also take the time to get to know the city a little bit better. We wanted to buy a few things inside, but oh my, the lines were all so long, so we decided to buy something on the way home instead and enjoy it in our house. Life is beautiful, but sometimes it is even better :)
